Local mums do the Cocoa Motion!

For Ranmoor based mums Allison Butler and her business partner Sarah Stiles, midsummer day certainly felt like the longest day of the year! Tuesday 21 June saw the launch of their new business venture “Cocoa Motion”, creating fabulous flowing chocolate fountain centrepieces for corporate events and special celebrations.

“I got the idea when I went to a friend’s wedding last year” explained Allison. “It was a great talking point, and became an even more attractive focus than the bar! Guests stood around dipping sweet treats like fudge, profiteroles, strawberries and even jelly babies for the children into the warm melted chocolate. It was such fun and such a novelty people talked about it for months afterwards.”

Allison had been thinking about starting her own business for a while but knew it had to work around her family commitments as full time mother of three. Sarah, a friend from the school gate, was in the same boat…and Cocoa Motion was born !

Allison and Sarah are dedicated to providing a top notch service and providing only the best quality dipping treats and chocolate. In doing this they have had to endure the hardship of tasting locally made treats like fudge and coconut ice. “ We wanted a unique selling point” explained Sarah, “so we are buying locally to benefit the region’s small producers and supporting Sheffield’s bid to be a fair trade city by offering organic, fairly traded chocolate. Our customers can relax and enjoy their special event knowing their celebration provides clean water and education for the cocoa bean growers”.

The launch at Whirlow Grange Conference Centre was well attended by eager guests who were treated to the complete Cocoa Motion service. A stunning fountain, beautifully displayed sweet treats and tableware, and smartly uniformed staff on hand to make sure no-one bypassed the wooden skewers in favour of throwing themselves into the fountain bodily !

Sarah concluded “We all know it’s never easy for mums to combine work and home life, but with Cocoa Motion we think we have the perfect balance”.

“The only problem is the temptation of the leftover chocolate, “ laughs Allison. “but we’ve developed a service to solve that one already - we bake a lot of brownies with it. Our customers can choose to send them to guests who cannot attend their special occasion, or as a thank you - or if not, our kids get them. Perfect!”.
